Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a good teen hangout? Can I drop off my kids unattended?
What time does the movie start?
We don't have an exact time when we will hit the play button each week; instead we wait until it's dark enough to see the movie clearly. Typically it's about 20 minutes after sunset.
You are welcome in the park at anytime. We set up the movie screen and a variety of activates each week from 7:00 pm until the move starts.
Can I bring tall, camping style chairs?
Tall camping chairs, umbrellas and shade tents are welcome in the back and side areas of the movie viewing area so they don't obstruct the view. There is a 'blanket only" section right in front of the movie screen.
Are there any other things to do in the park before the movie starts?
There are so many things to do in Settlers Park before the movie starts! First, each Friday night our sponsors bring a variety of fun activities. I enjoy making groovy tunes in our Sound Garden. Most kids (and some adults) can be found cooling off in the Splash Pads. Grab a treat from the concession stand. Or, bring your lawn chair and read.
We support relaxing in all it's forms.
Can I bring food into the park; can I buy food in the park?
You are more than welcome to bring your own picnic. The Settlers Park concession stand is open and offers hot dogs, hamburgers and delicious summertime treats. Also look for the onsite kettle corn station! It's hot and fresh.
Please be aware, alcohol is not allowed at movie night.
How is this amazing event free to attend? Who can we thank for making it happen?
It takes a village to create a movie night. It is the vision and production of the Meridian Parks and Recreation staff. Add to that a plethora of local businesses including Sparklight - our title sponsor for all 18 years. Local businesses sponsor a season or a night. Mix in a dash of volunteers and you have amazing summer tradition. If you enjoy the evening, be sure to tell them!
