Meridian Fire Department Will Host a Free Car Seat Safety Check for Community Members

MERIDIAN- Meridian Fire Department will hold a free Car Seat Check event to help community members install car seats safely. The free event will be held September 18, 2024, from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Meridian’s Public Safety Training Center, 1223 E Watertower Street, Meridian. Because space is limited, those interested in participating are asked to make appointments as soon as possible by visiting Meridian's website, www.meridiancity.org/carseats.

Meridian Fire Department offers car seat events and appointments throughout the year to ensure parents and caregivers are equipped with tools and knowledge to help keep their children safe while riding in a vehicle. Meridian Car Seat Technicians have checked more than 50 child passenger seats in 2024 and made vital corrections on more than 75% of these inspections.

“The best way to keep children safe in the car is to use the right car seat, the right way,” said Meridian Fire Department’s Community Risk Reduction Manager, Carly Shears. “Which type of car seat, installation, and making sure it’s the right fit are just a few things to consider when navigating car seats.”

Meridian Fire Department is partnering with our citizens to help keep kids safe while riding in a car. For more information about Meridian Fire Department’s Car Seat Inspections, visit www.meridiancity.org/carseats
